Original Artwork
Gail Hayton

All of her life Gail has attempted to create imagery with a jewel-like
quality. After experimenting with woven tapestries, embroidery, quilting,
large size paintings in pencil and watercolor, she finally found my jewel in
miniature art in the medium of acrylic.
Her
passion is to render sun drenched landscapes that usually include
architecture and sometimes horses. Gail's love for these subjects comes
from two sources. Upon completion of high school, her parents insisted she
get an education in something that could make money. Art was not considered
an option. she decided on a career in Architecture because of her love for
historic houses. After working as an architect for a few years, she
resigned herself to the fact that she would live her life stuck on a
drafting board. She went back to school in engineering and worked at Ford
Motor Company through 2006, when she retired. When her daughter was young,
she talked her father into buying her a horse- a journey that led to many
hours spent in barns admiring these giant muscular beasts, thus she likes to
use horse imagery in her paintings.
Gail has been painting in miniature for 10 years. The World Federation of
Miniaturists accepted two works for inclusion in the The Third Exhibition
for Fine Art in Miniature hosted by The Smithsonian in
Washington D.C. Gail has also received honorable mention by MPSG in
Washington
D.C.
While employed at Ford Motor Company, her work was featured in Ford World,
a magazine distributed world-wide. In 2006, Gail was included in a book and
exhibit of the top 100 artists in
Huron Valley area, a suburb of Detroit, Called The Artists Project.
In January, 2008 she became a member of The Miniature Painters, Sculptors
and Gravers Society of Washington, D.C. Membership is by invitation only.
