Original Mackinac Island Art
Nicki Griffith

Nicki Griffith, a summer resident of Mackinac Island, has always had a love of art and has taken various classes and workshops during the last 25 years.  She maintains studios on Mackinac Island and in Ann Arbor and travels extensively.  Her work has been juired into shows in Petoskey and Alpena, Michigan.  Experimenting with different techniques and styles, she lets her feelings about diverse subject matter guide her approach to the canvas.  A lifelong gardener, she loves to paint flowers in a variety of ways:  in the garden, in still life arrangements and sometimes in quirky, magnified or almost abstract design.  "Flowers have such individual personalities, much like humans and animals.  I enjoy trying to isolate and present that in individuality and nuance.  There is an exquisite simplicity of beauty in nature which inspires me.  I believe that art, like nature, should capture the heart and soul of the viewer."
