Noel Skiba loves being an artist. She is committed to producing art that captures the spirit of an image. As a colorist, she sees beauty in everyday life, a child's smile, sparkling water, racing cars or shadows on a building. As an historian, she documents a moment. She paints spontaneously on site. She is always ready. Noel is originally from Alpena, Michigan, which is surrounded by nature, on the shores of Lake Huron. Crashing waves compel her to create art about water to preserve its beauty and fragility. She wants to dive in and splash paint on canvas. Born a third generation artist and craftsman, her world was surrounded with fine arts from a young age, painting, weaving, pottery, sculpture, masonry, carpentry, and the restoration of furniture and architecture. Freelancing started at age 12, after she made a spiritual commitment to share her talents. Moving to the Grand Rapids area in the late 1970's, she earned BFA, AAS and ASA degrees, focusing on the arts, sciences and business in the 1980's. She had established a freelance fine and commercial art and design business while working her way through school. Since the early 1990's she began to set aside some of her commercial work to refocus on painting, traveling, painting on location and seeking inspiration from the great masters. Series of substantial fine arts pieces continue to evolve mostly influenced by her love of life, water, nature, and documenting history for commercial and private clients.
